3-week riparian project - Volunteers needed

Monday – Friday, August 4-22, 2008 
THREE WEEK PROJECT - Volunteers are Welcome!
A demonstration project, based on an open-space inventory and monitoring plan that has been developed, will be conducted in riparian habitats along the Agua Fria River in the month of August.  Nationally recognized methods that will yield vegetation maps, photographs and descriptions of value for education and conservation planning will be used. Volunteers that participate in the three-week project will have the opportunity to play a continuing role in open-space monitoring, planning, and education. 
Monday - Friday, August 4-8, 2008 Project Training -Dewey. 
Monday - Friday, August 11-22, 2008 Fieldwork

High Desert Bead Society

This is the month to visit the Bead Society- We will have open beading and you will be able to see if this is the hobby for you.  Meetings begin at 1pm and typically end at 3pm, every third Saturday of each month. The High Desert Bead Society monthly meetings feature guest speakers, demonstrations and raffles. It's a wonderful opportunity to meet many talented beaders in Northern Arizona so please join us!  Meetings for 2007 currently take place at the Frank Pehlman Training Center Yavapai Jeep Posse Building in Prescott, AZ. Upper Verde River Stewardship Hike
8:00am - 5:00pm
Saturday, July 26, 2008 Hike down to the Verde River then upstream along the shore of Stillman Lake. You should see lots of birds and petroglyphs, and then will hike down the Verde into the new Nature Conservancy property to view beaver dams and Verde Springs. This is an easy, pretty, and cool hike with lots of fun and information. Sierra Club rated C, 4 miles, 200' elevation change.
